Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 4 Pro Limited Edition Review

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 4 Pro Limited Edition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First, be forewarned that this soundcard/external box system requires an extra power connection inside your computer. If you do not have a spare power connection, then the external box is useless--and that means no MIDI connections (no keyboard), no mike, etc. etc.
Second, the card itself. Uses a 32-bit audio engine. It is widely believed that the more bits, the better. However, some sources say that the bits above 16 are mainly noise, with some increased definition. At any rate, recording or playing soundfonts with this soundcard produces very harsh-sounding instruments. This may be what you want if you're writing rock music. If you're writing chamber music, choose a different card.

Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live (CT4830) Review

Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live (CT4830)
Average Reviews:

I purchased one of these cards back when they first came out. Have changed PC setups and motherbaords several times but always kept my SBLive. This card has some recording features that have never found on other cards. My computer literally blew
up a couple months ago including my sound card. Thought would never find another.
Having bought another through this service I am back in business. The creative labs
sound blaster live has to be the best sound card I have ever used or worked with.
This card has record what you hear. I listen information online that I can use for reference in the future and record it so I don't have try to find it again online.
There are other features to this card that I also really like if it was readily available to be purchased I would highly recommend it to anybody.

Creative Labs CT4760M Sound Blaster Live MP3+ Review

Creative Labs CT4760M Sound Blaster Live MP3+
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Sound Blaster Live +MP3 is a great card but it is just the standard Sound Blaster Live with extra bundled software. I was expecting some type of additional hardware acceleration for mp3 playback and encoding but the price still isn't bad for the great sound quality. Some of the software is pretty useless, however I found the encoding software to be great with encoding support up to 360 Kb/s and full CDDB support. The software also goes nicely with my Nomad as it makes it easy to increase the volume of a quiet recording or add special effects easily.

Cons: The only real problem is that the drivers that come with it did not work. Fortunately the drivers that creative provides on their website work as expected.

Creative Labs SB0880 PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card Review

Creative Labs SB0880 PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm not what I would call a hardcore audiophile, but I like my music sounding strong and rich. I had an ASUS Xonar before this one, and I swapped it because the Xonar was not very good at games, which is the second use for the PC. I was afraid the X-Fi wouldn't live up the hype and I would lose music quality for games quality.
I was wrong. I cannot believe how incredible everything sounds. Music quality is perhaps the same or slightly better than with the Xonar, but gaming is just incredibly immersive.
The only two things I don't like very much of the product is 1. the "Modes" are just exactly that. "Entertainment mode" truly makes music sound incredible, but deactivates some gaming features, and "Gaming mode" reactivates all those, but music doesn't sound as well. Switching back and forth isn't my idea of fun. 2. It's Creative. I'm probably one of the most anti-Creative people around since I can't agree with most of their business decisions, but sadly, they have way to many sound patents that won't allow the competition to rise. Although I still hate them, it's just that sadly it's the best product around.
Overall I'm very impressed with the card.

I purchased this along with the X-FI notebook card. Wireless freedom is a luxury that I thoroughly enjoy. The ability to hear audio from my laptop on high quality speakers wirelessly makes it a much more satisfying experience. Creative Labs Sound Blaster Wireless Audio Transmitter and Receiver Bundle Review

Creative Labs Sound Blaster Wireless Audio Transmitter and Receiver Bundle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

Having used a myriad of devices from the squeezboox boom and the squeezebox duet system -- as well as a few other devices that are not worth mentioning, I'll say that this is by far the easiest to use, install and operate.
Let me walk you through my set-up ... which took about 10 minutes ...
1. Unpacked the box and did away with all the plastic detritus.
2. Installed and registered the software on my laptop.
3. Plugged in the transmitter to a USB port in the back.
4. Rebooted my laptop, turned on iTunes and played a U2 album.
5. Plugged in the receiver (using a nicer set of cables) to my Sony Stereo Receiver on Aux 3. Was tempted to go optical.
6. Hit the find button on the underside of the little device and walked away.
7. 15 seconds later -- music played.
8. Stuck the batteries in the remote and turned it up.
That simple and absolutely no stumbling blocks to speak of.
Sound Quality? -- Better than I expected for this, but I wasn't looking for Mark Levinson to come out of my office and sit down on the couch with a glass of wine. The sound quality is more than adequate for casual home listening and the better your system is, the better the device will sound to you.
Responsiveness? -- I'm constantly unplugging the transmitter from my laptop and taking off somewhere, only to come back replug it back in, and find it working almost instantly and flawlessly. Windows and iTunes are not always asking questions or looking for drivers. It seems that whatever iTunes needed to do to make this thing be compatible with itself, was worked out ahead of time by Creative Labs and Apple. That's a first.
The Software -- is quite good and quite simple. You can customize it to play in zones, if that's your thing or adjust the quality of the sound and other minor changes. The software, from what I saw, doesn't appear to be a resource hog, nor has it been the culprit of crashes or bluescreens. If you don't use iTunes , you don't like to, or don't want to, this may be the only *real* problem one could face. The good thing is that it doesn't require you to depend on it as a player like other companies, or other devices do.
I can find no fault with this and I'm happy with the success of this device. I use it everyday now and I'm thoroughly pleased.
Well done ... a great idea to give as a gift for young or old as the ease of use with this is simple and the learning curve low. How about that for innovation?

After trying several cards in a Dell T110 Server running Windows 2008 R2, this was the only card that worked perfect. The other cards I tried claimed to work on Windows 2008 and didn't. I followed the installation instructions everything worked first time. I am using the card for Ham Radio application, CW, PSK31 and SSTV. Like I said before I couldn't be more pleased with it.

Creative Labs SB1040 PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Sound Card Review

Creative Labs SB1040 PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Sound Card
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Nice sound, optical in and out, cheap, BUT, as I later found out AFTER purchase, as I saw no disclaimer nor information indicating otherwise on any vendor sites nor the Creative Labs site, this is NOT a true X-FI chipset card, a cheap knock off branded as an X-FI.
It is my opinion this borders on deceptive marketing practices as an X-FI is an X-FI, and this is NOT an X-FI chipset card..
NOT AN X-FI CHIPSET CARD, BUYER BEWARE OF CREATIVE LABS
Creative Labs admitted to me this card is not an X-FI chipset card, and that it so-called "emulates" X-FI via software.
Yeah right, and if that is the case, a Ford Escort can "emulate" a LTD Crown Vic also...
SHAME ON YOU CREATIVE LABS.
My last purchae was an Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro which was not cheap, and I fully expected more only to be VERY disappointed that I got a cheap knockoff of an X-FI card that was misrepresented.
Does anyone else feel as if they have been misrepresented by this card not having an X-FI chipset on it while being marketed/represented as an X-FI product line offering?

Creative Labs SB0570 PCI Sound Blaster Audigy SE Sound Card Review

Creative Labs SB0570 PCI Sound Blaster Audigy SE Sound Card
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There have been a few interesting reviews for this product here on Amazon. Some are evidently due to lack of experience with computers. I will just list a few things you might want to know.
1. The card was very easy to install and update. As stated in the instructions.. Install the card, then boot up. When it detects the card and wants to search for drivers.. hit cancel. Then when your desktop loads, insert the installation cd and install the software. This gets you the bonus material on the cd as well as the drivers. This includes an automated update system for driver and software updates. You can schedule it to check for (I recommend) once a month, but run it once when you first install. This automatically updates your drivers for you. Very easily done. No searching the net, no messing with anything. Just click the options you want.
2. Sound cards in general. Most computers packaged these days come with onboard (chipped directly to the motherboard) sound cards. This is a terrible idea. The onboard sound card
a. is using your system resources and will could be causing conflicts or bottlenecks that lessen gaming and other intensive cpu usage and
b. not a real sound card and therefore generally a real pain (usually impossible) to upgrade the drivers on.
I am a gamer from ancient history of computer gaming and can tell you this.. sound card drivers not being updated are the cause of just as many, if not more problems crashing other programs than anything else on your computer save the video drivers.
Finally.. as for the sound. The digital 7.1 is awesome. I really notice a difference and have enjoyed the performance of this card very much.

I have owned two of these cards, each one for nearly exactly 1 year and two months. Both died at the 14 month mark, which is nearly exactly at the end of the warranty. Both had the same problem, an on-board chip got fried. Both were in different hardware setups and I have had no problems with surges or static shocks. I will not buy Bgears again, as I have found their products' longevity to be severely lacking.

Average Reviews:

I would not classgy this card as "Plug and Play". Windows will see it once it is plugged into a slot, but it probably won't work out of the box that easily.
The first thing you shoudl know is that you need to uninstall or disable all other sound card drivers.
The next thing is that you need to read the manual which comes on the CD with the drivers. Each speaker setup has you plug into the card differently. You need to get it right to make it work. Also be aware that because the manual is on the disk, they son't give any usable written instructions in the box.
Next when you install the drivers, it will only install for once kind of speaker system. If you later upgrade from a 2.0 to a 4.0, 5.1 or 7.1 system, or if you change the speakers at all you most likely will have to run the setup again.
So, this card is particular about getting everything right. Still, I paid less than $25 (including shipping) and for that amount of money it works great! Once you make the card happy it will work great!

Creative Sound Blaster Live 5.1 32bit Internal PCI Dolby Digital Sound Card SB0220 Review

Creative Sound Blaster Live 5.1 32bit Internal PCI Dolby Digital Sound Card SB0220
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've bought this card to be used in one of my older PCs. The card works nicely, and the sound is great.
However, I must warn you that finding drivers for this card can be a real pain. SB0220 is an OEM version. CreativeLabs does not provide drivers for their OEM cards directly. If you dowload drivers for Live 5.1 cards from CreativeLabs web site, the installation program will abort with error that it hasn't found any Sound Blaster cards in the system.
It is possible, but not trivial, to find drivers that work with this card on the net. There's several "drivers" web sites around that has them. Just make sure you don't leave them your email address (or leave them some discardable/temporary email address). Some of those drivers work good, some don't. Have patience, and with a bit of trial&error you'll find a driver that works OK with this card.
If you want a card that you'll just plug into your computer and have no trouble finding the drivers, than this particular submodel of Live! 5.1 card is not a card for you. Make sure you buy *retail* version. CreativeLabs provides drivers only for their retail cards. OEM cards, zero support. Not even generic device drivers. Not even for the OEM cards that are absolutely identical to retail versions (apart the model number). However, it is really hard to tell which Live! 5.1 cards are retail and which are OEM. This card is not produced anymore (available only as old stocks or used). Product number databases are incomplete, have errors, and CreativeLabs web site isn't helpfull in identifying them either. It's kind of hit and miss. I really must give credit to this particular seller for telling up front that the card is OEM in the description of the product.
This card really deserves 5 stars. It is really an excellent and outstanding card. Great value. But because of the CreativeLabs policy of not providing generic drivers for OEM versions of their products, I must take at least 2 stars from this particular submodel (SB0220) of the SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 sound card.

Download the correct and current version of the audio drivers from the manufacturer's web site. Important: after you get through the installation process open the control panel for the sound card and configure your sound system setup (i.e. specify a 2 speaker system if that's what you have). It defaults to a 5.1 speaker setup setting which can produce unusual results when you are outputting to a 2.1 speaker system.
