(More customer reviews)After retiring my old finepix E500 which did its job for the past 6 years it still functions same as the day i bought it. But it was time for a new model so after 2 months of looking around i figured to just go with another fujifilm i looked into the AV100 and the AX200/AV200 now with the AV100 i saw many reviews on a freezing issue since i have not personally seen anything recall wise or other from fuji on the issue i will not take a guess at the reason why for the freezing in the AV100. So next came the AX/AV200 the difference the AX side of the A series is the AX is a 5x optical zoom with the AV side being 3x optical zoom and very few other minor differences between them feature wise. The AX has a panorama feature that is manual only as where the AV has both the manual and auto stitch panorama feature which i like because it puts all three images together in one full panorama. I have seen little to no talk about a freezing issue while recording HD video with the AX or the AV and hardly any reviews of the AV200. I read that people used a class 6 memory card to make up for the freezing issue in HD but myself i went right for a class 10 memory card and i have been able to record in direct sunlight , overcast days , night , low light for the full nine minutes and thirty seven seconds my memory card allows which gives me a file size of 1.99GB. Now it does have to other video settings one at 640x480 size but i have found one issue with this after about one minute and thirty seconds the audio goes out of sync and never re-sync's and the lowest setting 320x240 is just very low quality over no better then what my old E500 had. Once you read the complete instruction manual which gives a lot of useful information on proper settings on battery life such as not using the SR feature, switching the auto focusing from "tracking" to "center" and "face recognition" to off and a few others. I placed the camera into silent mode to save battery life even more. I was able to use the provided AA battery's for four days while playing with the camera to test it out now i use now i use normal Duracell AA's i have gotten about 380 pictures from a pair of standard AA's another issue to be careful of is making sure your camera is set for the right battery's when i first turned it on i was asked of alkaline was being used you can change the setting for the battery's to NI-MH these will give you a longer use life but i like standard alk's because i can get them from any local store. Another issue i have read on the other AV100 and even the AX200 is a constant noise i believe that issue is being over blown yes it will make noise when focusing only and it will be constant if you do not change the focusing from tracking to center doing this will stop the "loud" sound. Also the bundled software in not needed to download any images or videos to your computer just plug and play the bundled software is just not needed there are plenty of freeware programs that can do a better job then the included software. the menu of the camera may seem cumbersome but you learn it really fast over all this is a fantastic for the price and a great "point and shoot" with plenty of settings and will provide the new shooter or any other shooters a great camera.
