(More customer reviews)It is excellent camera. It takes very good crisp clear pictures. Even though it has no manual, it has good feature of 'Focus'. Motion picture is really good. Very handy and easy to operate. I liked the Menu. Very user friendly. The best part is it takes only 2 seconds to become ready to shoot picture when you power on. I can just carry anywhere and share with anybody without need of any software to upload my images. The moment you connect it is identified as "removable disk" and you just use your explorer in windows to browse the images and download them. In our family we liked color effect 'COOL'mode. The pictures are very soft and cool. You can take mulitple pictures upto 4 in Hi-res and 6 in Lo-resolution.
Except one feature (Manual Focus), it has everything.
Worth for the Money! Great Leica lense.

Incorporating a Leica 3x optical zoom lens and a 4-megapixel resolution, the Panasonic DMC-LC70 offers professional optics in a classically styled camera at an affordable price. The DMC-LC70 also features several automated scene modes and video capture with sound. It is considerably more compact and 2 ounces lighter than its predecessor, the Lumix DMC-LC43.
Optics and Resolution The DMC-LC70 captures 4-megapixel images up to 2304 x 1728 pixels for poster-size print enlargements. Other resolution modes include 1600 x 1200, 1280 x 960, and 640 x 480. The 3x optical zoom is joined by a 3x digital zoom for a 9x total zoom.
Like all Panasonic Lumix digital cameras, the DMC-LC70 is equipped with a lens made by Leica, manufacturer of precision optical technologies. The top compact lens in the world-renowned Leica family, the DC Vario-Elmarit lens combines comfortably small size with superb image rendering. Its features include:

Movie Mode In addition to taking still photos, the DMC-LC70 can also record 320 x 240 movie clips at 10 frames per second with audio. Your video length is limited only by the size of your memory card.
More Features The Mega Burst Imaging function allows you to take consecutive pictures at an incredible quick rate, making it perfect for capturing fast-moving objects in high resolution. The DMC-LC70 captures up to 8 consecutive images in standard mode (at either 3.5 or 2 frames per second) or 5 images in fine mode. You can then view your shots on the camera's LCD screen to choose the shot you want and delete the rest.
The Lumix DMC-LC70 features a Mode Dial that gives you a variety of settings to choose from to help give you the best shot possible based on your shooting environment. Modes include simple, normal picture, economy, macro, portrait, landscape, night portrait, and moving image.
The Venus Engine LSI generates the luminance signal of the primary color CCD using all three colors (red, green, blue) for improved diagonal image resolution, compared to conventional CCDs that use only one color (green) to do so, resulting in rich, expressive images. This LSI also handles image processing, LCD functions, and writing to the memory card concurrently, for an overall quick camera response.

Storage and Transfer Images can be stored on the included 16 MB Secure Digital memory card; the DMC-LC70 is also compatible with MultiMedia (MMC) cards. Images can be downloaded to either a Mac or PC via ultra-fast USB 1.1, which means it can be connected to any USB-compatible Windows Me/2000/XP and Mac OS 8.6 or later computer without installing any software.
Power and Size The camera is powered by 2 AA batteries (alkalines included, rechargeable NiMH batteries recommended). Using alkaline batteries, you should expect the battery to capture approximately 200 shots with the LCD on. It measures 3.44 by 2.57 by 1.39 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 5.6 ounces (excluding batteries).

It's automatic setting worked much better in low-light than the scene recognition setting that is supposed to use the best features for the circumstances. Also, tried the video setting to capture my son getting athletic award and varsity letter -- it came out an unfocused blur. I bought this to take with us to Europe and have something small but effective to carry in a pocket. We are leaving this week, so I'll update if it does better on the trip. Not feeling confident.

(More customer reviews)I got mine on Saturday from a camera store here in Austin. The camera is nice and small but feels very solid. I was interested in the EP1 but could never get my mind around the practice of viewing and focusing on the back LCD screen. I was interested in this product segment because I have a collection of the Pen F half frame film cameras that this one is based on. I was very happy to learn that several people are making adapters that will allow me to use those old Pen F lenses on the EP2. I am looking forward to using two of my old favorites, the 60mm f1.5 and the 70mm f2.
I took the EP2 and the kit zoom lens out for a three hour spin yesterday morning. It was 30 degrees outside and the first thing I discovered is that this is not a camera with an interface you can use with gloves on. The buttons are too small and require too much pressure with gloves.
In daylight I didn't notice any real problem with focusing. It was not as slow as I was led to believe. BUT, it does do this little "focus on either side of sharp" and then lock and shoot that takes a few tenths of a second each time you autofocus. The cure is to switch the focus on control to the fn button or the ael button and then you can focus once and shoot until the subject/camera distance changes. It's definitely not bad. I also tried a bunch of low light focusing later in the evening and, with 60 watt household lights in various fixtures the focus locked pretty well.
You would be unwise to buy this camera without the EVF (electronic viewfinder). In my opinion this is what makes this camera and cameras like the Panasonic GF1 special. It's a great finder. Almost as clear and clean as a great optical finder. Better than the optical finders on the Olympus e300 and e520 cameras that I also own.
Here's why I really love the camera. I spent years and years shooting with a Hasselblad and I love composing images as squares. Several DSLR's with "LIve View" are available that can be configured to shoot different aspect ratios in Jpeg. Including the square. But when shooting portraits those cameras go through too much time consuming labor to use it effectively and the effect can only be seen on the rear LCD screen. On the EP2 this is not the case. The exposure is relatively instantaneous. And the camera can be used in a square format which you can view through the EVF.. You basically wind up with a 6x6 camera that shoots 9 megapixel files (the crop of the 12 megapixel sensor to square) at three frames per second.
The color and sharpness, even with the kit lens, is superb. Out of camera jpegs are something Olympus is famous for and this camera is even better than it's predecessors. I've also processed a few raw files with Capture One 5.01 and they are great but not that much better than a well exposed Jpeg.

The only unhappy note I have about the camera is that the BLS battery was "only" good for around 300 images. I always buy a spare battery when I buy a new camera so I had one in my pocket when the first battery became depleted. Keep in mind that it never got about 35degrees (f) while I was shooting and cold really messes with batteries. I presume you might be able to hit the 500 shot mark with warmer weather.
Finally, I am excited to shoot HD video with this camera. With adapters I'll be able to use some of the great lenses I've bought for my regular Olympus cameras.
Here is my con list:
1. The batteries could last longer....
2. The EVF plugs into a port under the hot shoe. It also takes over the hotshoe. This means that you can't use the hot shoe or even trigger a flash if the EVF is plugged in. This is a big deal. I wish the camera had a little pc terminal somewhere. Then I could use the EVF and still be able to trigger studio flashes.
3. Same thing for microphones. If you want to use an outboard mic for recording sound you'll need to use the same connection port. So you get to choose between EVF and microphone.
4. I wish there were more dedicated Olympus lenses for this format. I'd love a 20 or 25mm prime lens with a fast aperture. I think that would be sooooo cool. Maybe that's down the road.
All in all this is the camera I've wanted for a while. I am happy with it. It gets only four stars because of the multi-function port. On image quality it's five star. If they drop in price after the launch I will try to buy a second body. Have fun deciding between this and the Panasonic GF-1.

(More customer reviews)Bought this camera on a whim, but knew enough to make sure that I bought one with a great lens, because that's the most important part of a camera after all. The lens on this is made by Leika, who've been making very high quality versions of such items for ages.
It's a doddle to operate, is nice and light in the hand and has a nice large preview/review screen to see what you're about to shoot, or you've taken just now.
I'm nowhere near knowledgeable enough about photography to make full use of all the features this item has to offer, but then I'd rather have more specifications than I can use, than miss out on ones that I want.
Love the image stabilization feature, as it allows even me to take good photos without excess blurring.
All in all, if you want a good general purpose camera, that's easy to operate and a great price, this would be a good pick.

(More customer reviews)This is a a very easy to use camera. I like that you can use the exposure control with the push of a button instead of going into de menu and the settings. So you can go from taking a picture under the shade to one with no shade and have the same exposure with a lot of ease and not looking around for the menu on the LCD display.
It has very good image quality and light, and has a image stabilizer that allows you to take pictures still even if your had shakes.
There is an normal mode: -intermediate users
It has a lot of options for different kind of displays en purposes. You have 4:3 ratio to display on standard TVs or monitors, thinking of slide shows or wall papers. It gives you different size options, up to 7.2 MP
It has a 3X2 ratio that is optimized for printing 4X6 pictures or bigger prints. Althoug this only gives 2 MP or 6 MP pictures.
It also has a 16:9 ratio for displaying or slide shows to be watched on widescreen TV's or Monitors. -This is my fave setting. But it only gives you 2 MP or 5.5 MP sizes.
You can turn on and off the digital zoom, in my case I don't like it so I turned it off, but you might like it and you may turn it off and while zooming in it will tell you once you start digitally zooming.
It has a basic mode: -beginners
It sets up everything automatically and with very basic options instead of size in MP it gives you options like email pictures, 4X6 or enlarge. With everyday language instead of techie language
It has a scene mode: -more advanced
This allows you to take pictures according to the lighting, weather conditions, portraits, sports etc. This gives you more control over how you want to take your pictures.
It Takes video in standard 4:3 format and 16:9 Widescreen format, which is not very common in this price range or in cameras in general. Still i prefer to have a camcorder to shoot video.
The only two things I don't like is the LCD screen which is bigger than the ones in my previos 2 cameras, is exposed to being touched, so you have to keep cleaning it if you don't want your finger prints on it. The battery life seems shorter than the Canon A75 that I replaced, but I guess that's because it records bigger files, has a bigger display and only uses half the batteries two instead of four. I'd recommend as with all digital cameras to get rechargable batteries as well as at least a 1 GB memory card. With 2 GB with the Widescreen at 5.5 MP it takes under 800 pictures, files are about 2 MB each so the 27 mb internal memory woulld barely allow me to take 13 pictures, less in 3:2 mode and even less on 4:3 7.2 MP format.
At this price range you won't find a better camera, even some 5 MP or 6 MP cameras are selling even higher than this one.
Before I bouhght it I did a lot of research and tried a lot of cameras of different brands and different MP size and this one was the one I like the best for quality image and options, most cameras don't have Widescreen option which I was very interested. This is good for beginners, intermediate or expert.
This is the same as the Lumix LZ7S except for the zoom wichi has a bigger range on the other one, but for 3X you would have to pay 50 bucks more.

(More customer reviews)I am a long-time amateur photographer. I gave up on digital SLRs for the simple reason that I always ended up only carrying them and their accessories on big occasions or holidays. Result was, I had a camera, but few pictures.
Next I bought a good pocket cameras, e.g. Panasonic etc and most recently the Ricoh GX200 which the E-P2 is replacing. These were nice. Picture-taking resumed but slow response compared to DSLRs and overall quality of the finished product always left a slight feeling of disappointment. With imaging chips of the size they use, this is only to be expected (just as compact cassettes by definition could not deliver decent audio).
Enter the E-P2 with its much larger sensor. I have had my E-P2 with 17mm pancake lens for a week now and simply love it. Responsive as an SLR, chunky but hardly larger than the Ricoh, it works like a dream in auto and more manual modes. (And who needs a zoom with this kind of resolution? - Just crop the bit you want from the immense pictures it takes).
In brief, and avoiding tech talk, this is a quality piece of kit. Looks like quality. Feels like quality. Works like quality. It's an SLR in a pocket camera body. (And - with apologies to the reviewer above - I love the quiet chunky sound and feel of the shutter.)
I think I've found 'my' camera at last - at the end of long, dollar-strewn trail!.
