StarTech.com VGA2NTSCPRO VGA PC to TV Video Converter with Remote Control Review

This is an ok video converter, but if you're looking to play video on your TV and have it look the same as it would on your computer, you'd probably be better off getting a nice video card with a TV-OUT port.(or just moving your monitor into the living room) The recommended use on the Startech website is presentations, which it would excel in if you have a large television. The problem with playing video on your PC to your TV it is that the picture 'folds' over itself every once in a while, like a flipbook with a couple pages missing every once in a while. The length of the cords that they include also remind me that I bought this thing for all the wrong reasons. Your television must only be six feet away from your computer(which is not true in the average home). The remote included is tiny(about the size of a letter opener) and the buttons are not easy to press. And believe me, you'll need the remote: every time you plug it in you need to adjust the V and H positions and stretches. Also it is a weak infrared remote, meaning you must practically be 5 feet away for it to give a signal. And forget about putting sound through, it's only for video. Also, when you hook your monitor up through the monitor port on this thing, it gives out a very degraded signal that makes your monitor look like it has a thin layer of fog and bars in front of it. But for the price its ok: it gives out crisp, full color conversions on your television and the fact that you need no software is a huge plus.

StarTech.com USB S-Video and Composite Video Capture Cable with Audio TV Tuners and Video Capture SVID2USB2 Review

I spend a lot of money online shopping mostly for tech type items. This video capture cable is by far THE BEST VALUE FOR MY MONEY THAT I EVER SPENT! If you buy a machine that can copy VHS to DVD you are talking $ 200 + and if you check the on line reviews they all are poorly rated.
Using this product you can copy VHS tapes to an external hard drive and make your entire collection of VHS tapes portable. Of course instead you can copy them to your internal hard drive and then burn them to a CD. This product is terrific BUT instructions included in the package are very very limited( as in almost nonexistent). Do not use the included software Cd for installation instead go to company web site and down load software from there. Tech support also rates 5 stars. No long wait and they know their stuff. I have recommended this product to all of my friends.
This is NOT a planted review. Having used this product to copy many hours of tape I can honestly say I would have paid double the price and still thought it was terrific. If you want to copy VHS tapes undoubtedly this is the way to do it

StarTech.com 2 Port ExpressCard Laptop 1394a Firewire Adapter Card (EC13942) Review

StarTech.com 2 Port ExpressCard Laptop 1394a Firewire Adapter Card (EC13942)

I purchased this card to transfer video from my Panasonic Mini-DV camcorder to my laptop computer running Vista. The card works without a hitch and Vista makes it easy to import video from the camera to the computer. I didn't need any software setup at all, it just worked. The 6-pin end of the cable plugs in to the expresscard, and the 4-pin end of the cable plugs in to the camcorder's "DV" port.
One thing that should have been stated in the Amazon description is that a firewire 4-pin to 6-pin cable IS included with this card. (I unnecessarily ordered a separate cable because there was no indication that a cable is included.) In fact Amazon misleads you by stating that this card is frequently purchased along with a separate cable, which implies that a separate cable should be ordered.
Anyway the card works well for me and if you buy it, you don't need to purchase an extra 4pin/6pin cable.
