I use this to record DVD audio from my PC to MD, using the digital in on my MD (real time). Have also used it to record MP3s from PC to MD (also real time). Have also used it to record from MD and Cassette to PC (you guessed it, in real time). Very satisfied with results.

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook Clamshell Sound Card (53SB053000003) Review

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook Clamshell Sound Card (53SB053000003)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you have searched Amazon for an Audigy 2 ZS notebook sound card you may have noticed that the Amazon search engine returns three different results for this product. Two of them (item model # 70sb053000012 and SB0530) priced over $20 than this model. If you are wondering what the difference is between those two and this one, you may be surprised to know that there is none other than the packaging. The two high priced versions come one in a colorful box and the other in a clamshell. This one comes in a plain cardboard box. The contents of the box are exactly the same and so are the technical specifications for the card.
Package contents:
- PCMCIA Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook audio card,
- Speaker docking cable,
- Clear carrying case,
- Creative earphones,
- Quick start leaflet,
- Creative DVD-Audio sampler disc,
- Sounds best on SOUND BLASTER CD installation,
- Applications CD containing: drivers for Windows XP & Windows 2000, Creative software suite, and user's guide.

The one that I bought did not have the latest version of the drivers. However, you can easily download them from the Creative web site together with several upgrades for the applications that come with the card.
So, if you want to save yourself at least $20 to use them towards buying yourself, say, a good speakers system, and you do not care about fancy packaging you may seriously consider buying this one.
I did not experience any problems with my card, like pops/click sounds as those problems are more related to the laptop where you will install the card (e.g. insufficient PCMCIA bandwidth that depends on your system's cardbus controller) than to the card itself. Also, the volume buttons of my laptop (Compaq) do control the card volume.

Digital Coaxial Audio RCA Cable M/M RG59U 75ohm S/PDIF Subwoofer - 12ft Review

Digital Coaxial Audio RCA Cable M/M RG59U 75ohm S/PDIF Subwoofer - 12ft
Average Reviews:

This appears to be a high grade cable that I am using for an Audio Coax connection from my Gigabyte Motherboard to my Sony Audio/Video Amplifier for my Home Theater System. My only somewhat insignificant complaint is that the cable is a little stiff, but that has to do with the double shielding used in the cable. From an electrical standpoint, this is a strong plus and from a cable management standpoint a possible slight negative depending upon how you route the cable. But overall, I am extremely pleased with this cable. I searched a long time before settling on this cable. I bought it for the double shielding, an actual 75 ohm specification clearly stated and high quality construction with gold plated connectors. And I needed at least 10 feet of length.

When it comes to optical audio, the lights are either "on" or "off." You can not get better or worse audio quality by purchasing expensive cables. The only recommendation I have is that you might want to purchase a slightly longer one. I was surprised by how short a distance 3 ft. really feels! Enjoy your Surround Sound!

The tuner/amplifier that I use for my surround sound system has only one optical audio input. However, both my dvd player and my satellite receiver each have an optical audio output. Prior to obtaining this device, I had to switch these two cables manually.
This switch works very well. It will switch between three optical inputs. The selector locks into place when proper alignment is reached for the desired input source.
This is a great labor saver, and a cost effective option to choose rather than face the expense of purchasing a new tuner/amplifier.

Dynex DX-SC5.1 - Sound card - 18-bit - 48 kHz - 5.1 - PCI Review

Dynex DX-SC5.1 - Sound card - 18-bit - 48 kHz - 5.1 - PCI
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
While the stereo sound that comes through this card is crisp, the 5.1 channel sound only plays through the analog ports. So while technically it is a 5.1 channel card and there is audio output through the optical port, you can't play 5.1 channel sound through the optical port.
The card's manual demonstrates some questionable business practices on the part of Dynex. It says that you should return your card to the place of purchase if it breaks within the 1-year warranty. (This is, of course, impossible.) It also says that you should make sure your sound system not only has an optical port, but that the sound system's manual specifies compatibility with the exact model number of Dynex card. This is ridiculous, and in any case it should have been printed as a system requirement on the box rather than hidden in the manual.

This product does exactly what I needed it to do. In my Macbook Pro it efficiently (with no sound distortion) transfers the laptops optical signal through my regular toslink cable into my surround sound receiver.
Works great, quality sound.

AmazonBasics Toslink Digital Audio Optical Cable (6 Feet/1.8 Meters) Review

AmazonBasics Toslink Digital Audio Optical Cable (6 Feet/1.8 Meters)
Average Reviews:

If it doesn't snap you probably forgot to take the little rubber protectors off the end of the cable... like I did for about a minute. Once removed it snaps in perfectly.
The cable is high quality, long, and very flexible and has nicely constructed connectors. And it is about 1/4 the cost of radio sxxxx and bsst buy, both being rip-off artists on items like cables.
Its things like this that will make me a prime return customer. Who can't wait 2 days to save big bucks??

Coaxial (S/PDIF) to Optical Digital Converter Review

Coaxial (S/PDIF) to Optical Digital Converter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Long story short, this worked specifically as intended. I needed to bridge my TV to my new soundbar and the two didn't share any connection type so this was my best digital solution. Do note that this is NOT BI-DIRECTIONAL, probably the only critical aspect of this product worth noting. The construction could inspire a little more confidence but for the price they're asking I didn't expect much more. They also make the reverse configuration of this if you happen to be looking for that set up. So yeah, take note of the order of things and I would recommend this as a solution to that particular configuration problem.

Kodak EasyShare C813 8.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Pink) Review

Kodak EasyShare C813 8.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Pink)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

This is a good camera for the price (sub 80) , with some issues.
Positive points
Nice photos.
Big screen for previewing.
Easy to figure out, my 10 year old quickly learned to navigate the menus.
Easy to download photos and video into XP, just plug in the included cable (one of the tiny usb cables)
Excellent red eye reduction, better than my Canon.
Uses 2 AA batteries, a big bonus since they are available everywhere. We use rechargable Eneloop brand, they work well in digital cameras and hold their charge when stored.
Negative points
No viewfinder, which makes it tough to see what you are taking in bright sunlight.
No audio playback for video on the camera. It does record the sound, but to hear it you have to download the video.
A little slow between photos, perhaps 5 seconds after a photo before it is ready to take another. We are using a Kingston 2 GB SD Flash Memory Card, perhaps if you bought a faster card this might improve.

3 FT Digital Audio Optical TOSLink Cable Optic 3ft Review

3 FT Digital Audio Optical TOSLink Cable Optic 3ft
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have a Sony STR-K760P receiver with 6.1 channel surround. I'm feeding my DVD in through digital coax, but my DirecTV and XBox both supply Dolby Digital 5.1 via optical output only. While these cables seem a bit delicate (I certainly wouldn't want to step on them, and I was careful not to bend them around sharp corners during setup) they work perfectly! Digital is all-or-nothing, either you get the full signal or you don't. There's no need to buy $20 - $50 digital optical cables from Monster or any other manufacturer, these will work great. My XBox sounds amazing when playing DD 5.1 games.
