Jensen 3-Speed Stereo Turntable with MP3 Encoding and AM/FM Stereo - JTA-450 (Black) Review

Jensen 3-Speed Stereo Turntable with MP3 Encoding and AM/FM Stereo - JTA-450 (Black)

Despite other reviews that claim this products works marginally, I heartily disagree. I ordered a JTA-450 from Amazon.com and it was very easy to setup. I was then very excited to play a brand new record that came with the same delivery, and the product simply did not work. The player constantly skipped, so after ensuring that the player was on a level surface and I was not placing any shock on the unit, I tried a different record. This played worse than the first one did and I noticed that the needle would simply pull toward the the center of the record without sitting in a groove on the vinyl. It turns out the needle was scraping vinyl off of the record as it did this, and it all happened very quickly.
I contacted Jensen in hopes that they would send me a new unit, as this one was obviously defective. They said they would be happy to fix or replace it if I would send the unit in and pay for the shipping. This simply was not acceptable, making me pay to send a unit in that came to me defective. I then contacted Amazon.com and they were happy to send a new unit for free and also pay for the return shipping. The second unit had the same problem as the first but scratched my records even more. I then sent the second player back for a full refund from Amazon.com.
In all, I wasted 3 weeks dealing with this issue and ruined 3 brand new records by merely testing the players for a matter of seconds. I now have a unit by a different maker (Ion) that works well and plays my records fine, save for the large scratches caused by the Jensen product. I have been in contact with Jensen about a reimbursement for the 3 records ruined. I am not expecting them to work well with me, as they did not in the past.
In short, I recommend that you skip over this item. Yes, I know the price looks great for the features, but there are comparable items that actually work. I'm glad that some customers have had good experiences with this unit, but I don't think it is worth the risk to undergo what I've gone through to get a working record player.

Crosley Radio CR6007A-MA Recording Tech Turntable (Mahogany) Review

Crosley Radio CR6007A-MA Recording Tech Turntable (Mahogany)

The appearance of this unit reminds me of the turntables/record changers of the 70s, which in my opinion is a plus. I have a VERY large LP collection that I want to add to my iPod, and this looked to be perfect for that purpose. Haven't used it to transfer vinyl to usb yet, but I have listened to my vinyl and the radio, which, by the way, receives several stations I cannot get on my other radios. The only reason I gave this four stars rather than five is that the speakers are really awful. I solved this problem by connecting it to my Crosley Solo radio which makes it sound pretty darned good. I've also connected my iPod to the turntable, so now I have a really nice system for my bedroom. For looks and simplicity of operation, I highly recommend this little turntable, but remember that if you're going to listen to the radio or actually play LPs to listen to them, you will definitely need a set of speakers

CDJ1000 MK2 Review

CDJ1000 MK2
Average Reviews:

Despite of all magazine reviews, the Pioneer CDJ-1000Mk2 is the new 1200 of the industry (if you know what i am talking). It has 4 types of pich 6% 10% 16% and Wide (a.k.a 100%) the large very large Dial, that has very touch sensitve feeling so if you are scrach DJ, or any type this is the most versatile dial you can buy... forget denon.. forget techics (the new one.. not the mk2)... this is the baby every one has on raves and big shows. the screen is brighter than the Mk1 version (even do, i havent seen mk1 in action).
it has revers funtions, that allows to back spin the cd even if scraching... also its quick!! loading and un-loading, it has 3 cue points, so if you are undecide , set them up and change your mind with out setting up again the cue points
the only bad thing about this cd player its that its expensive so if you are one of those bedroom DJ, you might wana wait till you get 2k so you can buy a pair.

Crosley Radio CR7002A-PA Troubadour Turntable (Paprika) Review

Crosley Radio CR7002A-PA Troubadour Turntable (Paprika)
Average Reviews:

I searched around for one of these all-in-one entertainment
units and chose this one because it recorded with
the use of a jump drive inserted into a slot in the front.
It was very easy to use. Simply insert the jump drive,
hit "Record", and start playing the album. Worked like a charm.
From there, you can just upload the mp3 onto your computer and
burn it to CD or do whatever you like with it.
The unit looks very nice. (I bought the oak one rather than
paprika). The sound is not particulary powerful, but it's clear
and sufficient enough for casual listening. If I ever want to
crank it up, it does have external speaker outputs in the back.
The one negative aspect is the fact that the record player arm
does not return to its starting position when the album is done
playing. The album stops spinning when it reaches the end, but
the arm just stays sitting on the album. However, that's no big
deal since, once the album's done playing, I want to put it back
into the sleeve.
Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase.

TCC TC-750 BLACK Audiophile Phono Preamp, Pre-amp (Preamplifier) Review

TCC TC-750 BLACK Audiophile Phono Preamp, Pre-amp (Preamplifier)
Average Reviews:

I have a fairly large collection of operas on LP's and had been having a friend transfer some of them to CD's. Unfortunately he seemed to have trouble keeping system noises, humming and buzzing, from entering the recordings so I decided to try for myself. I have an old Technics direct drive turntable equipped with a Stanton pickup. I read another review on the TC-750 which impressed me, so since this preamp was relatively inexpensive I decided to give it a try. It arrived shortly after ordering particularly for Hawaii, and I hooked the turntable up to the TC-750 and that in turn to a VCR which is plugged into the sound card of my computer. Using Nero software that came with a Sony DVD burner I captured several of the operas and burned them onto CD's. I cannot emphasis to much how elated I am with the sound. It is absolutely clean and smooth. The sound reproduction is perfect. I am totally estatic with the performance of the relatively inexpensive TC-750 phono preamp, and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to connect a magnet phono pickup to a standard audio imput.
