(More customer reviews)I bought the ASUS MS226H monitor for extra display real estate while working at home with my tiny 13" MacBook Pro. I didn't have to load any special drivers or applications but the MacBook Pros require a separately purchased mini-display port adapter to connect to anything standard. The ASUS came with a VGA-VGA cable and a HDMI-DVI cable in the box. In VGA mode the system works flawlessly up through 1920x1080. HDMI works well to 1600x900. At 1920x1080, HDMI mode produces an annoying flicker that I find unusable - maybe something to do with the MacBook's interlacing at that resolution. The ASUS works just the same with either OS X or Windows XP under VM on the MacBook. I also use the ASUS as a TV screen. I just connect it to an HD cable modem with a separately purchased HDMI cable (an HDMI-HDMI cable wasn't included). The ASUS is not equipped for sound (except for a 2.5 mm audio jack) so I use a pair of old external PC speakers to hear the TV.
I find the monitor relatively easy to carry around the house. It weighs in at only 7 pounds on my kitchen scale. As a piano player, I was attracted by the 3/4" thickness spec. It is thin and light enough to fit on the music stand of my piano in place of paper music sheets or books. Also, 21.5" is close enough to the size of two normal side-by-side sheets of music. I unscrew and remove ASUS's clever ring stand, and, turn the monitor upside down so that the cables (data and power) clear the top of the music stand and so that the LCD is comfortably more or less at the same position the paper music would otherwise be (the bottom of the bezel where the controls are is wide compared to the top). Fortunately, the grooves on the bottom of my piano's music stand are sufficient to keep the monitor from slipping off the music stand. Finally I have the driver rotate the video output 180 degrees.
