(More customer reviews)The converter box works great. You need to make sure which direction you need to go ie.. spdif to optical or vice versa. The sound is great on my surround sound system but I really don't have anything to compare it to other than playing a dvd on my surround system and this sounds the same.. My tv didn't have an optical output and this did the trick. The only drawback is you need to plug it in to a 120v outlet.
