(More customer reviews)I love products that champion simple elegance and perform their limited functions well. The Behringer UCA202 is such a critter.
It's small and portable and its USB operation makes it very easy to plug into just about any Windows (or Mac?) machine and automatically installs its drivers. And for ASIO low/no latency fans, we have a winner! (You do have to download ASIO drivers though.) This little fella does just what a breakout box or audio interface should do: convert analog sound to digital and vice versa. It has 2 RCA ins and 2 RCA outs, a headphone socket with volume control and of course the USB connector. Oh, and a S/PDIF output. If there's one even tiny nit it's this. While this sounds good (and I'm sure it does sound good) I doubt it's needed/wanted by most people.
I've been doing some recording with this unit and I have no complaints; in fact, I'm trying to win/buy a second one on as I write this. Wish me luck.
One request/suggestion to the Behringer peeps for new products: a 'UCA404' unit with 4 inputs and a 'UCA808' with...well, you know. I think you'd get a lot of new customers!
