I shopped extensively for inexpensive home theater audio trying to delay my purchase until equipment using HDMI 1.3 comes out to use in conjunction with the new Blue ray or High Def DVD players. Currently if you want home theater done right you have to spend about $4k or more. If you spend that now you'll get equipment that can only play back the current compressed soundtrack formats for the current crop of DVD movies. Evidently Blue ray and HD DVD is supposed to be putting out movies in the new lossless format which means no compression of the signal so we will finally get great sound to satisfy an audiophile taste if you have the right home theater equipment to play it. So the trick is now to get home theater audio for your current tv or HD tv setup. This samsung system has a couple of unique things going for it. Namely HDMI input and output. Only a handful of HTIB (Home theater in a box) setups have a HDMI plug at all for the new HDTV sets and almost none of them have an HDMI input for any other HDMI friendly devices such as a DVR (digital Video recorder). Only the Onkyo does and not all of the onkyos only a couple of their systems do but to get the onkyo you have to spend 700.00 plus stands for the speakers so you are going to be out at least 850-900.00. I found this samsung with the unique HDMI in and HDMI out so I bought it from Brandsmart for 428.00 and after finally connecting it was amazed at the excitement it brought to my viewing experience on my 60 inch Sony SXRD rear projection 1080i HDTV. Bear in mind this HTIB system on FM radio or music cds sounds atrocious (horrible). It comes with FM radio tuner, plays all kinds of music formats such as DIVX, MP3, etc but again it sounds AWFUL. But for movies on DVD it sounds balanced, proper, clean, exciting and very satisfying. I dont know how it can sound so amazing for such crappy electronics and such a low price but it does. The dynamic range is there, the power is there, it conveys a lot of emotion and makes any movie more engaging. I am using this setup in a room that is approximately 14 by 20 feet. The remote has the basic keys that glow in the dark and one lighted key up top when you push the button. Assembly was easy, electronics inside are suprisingly advanced. Unit is well lit, plenty of speaker cable included but no component or HDMI cables. Dont get suckered into spending big dollars on an HDMI cable. Avoid the Sony's HTIB systems as they sound surprisingly distorted. Look at the onkyos with the HDMI inputs as they are good units. Also pay attention to having a digital optical input too as this unit has one. Also be careful with wireless rear speakers as they add to the cost and may be hissy or fussy to keep working. I highly recommend this Samsung system.

Software sucks, constant interference trips software motion detection. Customer service is a joke. I got a quick response when e-mailed, It was infuriating it was like talking to a robot with bad English! I could get the remote monitoring working in IE8 in Windows 7 with problems, but works better in XP running IE8. I have an HTC Touch PRO (with a stock rom) the windows mobile software is incompatible I'm assuming because of the VGA screen, It might run on a QVGA screen I dont't know for sure (I Wouldn't be surprised if it didn't). The remote monitoring software works fine on an iphone. There is an unsupported (independent) app available for the android, but it crashes the SERVER every time you run the program. Bottom line this product works good for the money. But don't plan on doing any cell phone monitoring unless you have an iphone. Don't buy this unless you have set up a DVR before, and know your computers. Don't plan on contacting customer support. Well you can contact them but don't plan on it doing you any good. The product says the remote viewing software works with Windows Mobile Pro 6.1, which is the OS my phone runs. I'll include a copy of my mind numbing conversation with Q-SEE.(ME) - I bought this card to be able to monitor my dvr from my cell phone. The software than installs on my phone does not run properly. It does not display correctly. I have an HTC Touch Pro. I'm sure there are other people having this problem as well. Thank you
(Q-SEE) - Is your phone running windows mobile pro 6.5? If so you are correct there probably many others having the same problem. The card will work with mobile pro 6.1 but the factory is still working on revisions that will allow the card to work with the changes that microsoft made in 6.5. They have not given us a time frame yet for these revisions.
(ME) - No i am running 6.1 I think its because I have a vga screen and the software is native to a qvga
(Q-SEE) - Yes you are correct, you need to change the screen resolution. So is it working now ?
(ME) - Any suggestions on how to change the screen resolution on a Windows Mobile Smartphone Running windows mobile 6.1?
(Q-SEE) - need to know exact make and model of your Phone. To my knowledge, there are no settings to change vga on the phones. On my HTC Mogul running 6.1 there are no settings.
(ME) - Sprint's HTC Touch Pro Win Mo Pro 6.1
... It's been over seven business day's and I've had no response... The software version was 6.3.1.1.
Good Luck

This laptop is an amazing deal (I got mine for $620 after tax at officedepot) if you're looking for high performance and speed at a really low price. But there are sacrifices for that low price. I was looking for a cheap laptop that would be able to play games such as StarCraft 2, World of Warcraft, Counter-strike, etc. as well as watch movies and multi-process like a monster. I was basically trying to find the best possible laptop that didn't have a dedicated graphics card and was around $600. I wasn't too concerned with the laptop specific features because I plan on setting it up on a desk with external mouse/keyboard when doing a lot of gaming. So for me, this is the perfect machine!
Pros: Very fast i5! (And for such a low price!). 500gb HDD, 4gb ddr3 ram, good graphics (even though it's intel HD), great at multi-tasking, playing games, etc. It has a beautiful HD screen, decent weight, great sound volume/quality. And did I mention how fast this things is?!
Cons: My cons are only cons if you plan on using this latptop on your actual lap. If you're going to put it on a desk, hook up a mouse and keyboard, then there really aren't any cons! With that said, the cons are heat (most noticeable on your lap, and also on your wrist if you're playing a game using the WASD keys), battery life (I can play WoW for about an hour before I have to plug it in), noise (you can definitely hear the powerfulness of this machine), the mousepad is a bit unusual (it's studded? and no scrollbar, but instead it has a "multi-touch feature" which is also unusual and doesn't work too well).
All-in-all, I got exactly what I was looking for and I've been very happy with it.
